Course Description:
Sustainable Development Goal 12 aims at responsible consumption and production. In this regard, sustainable consumption is pivotal as part of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). However, many antecedent variables can affect sustainable consumption, such as information, values, norms, media, etc. Effective communication plays a crucial role in shaping sustainable consumption. Nevertheless, there is still a lack of understanding regarding how the academic literature scrutinize sustainable consumption from the perspective of communication study, even if there is an increasing amount of research on communication in relation to consumption behaviour. This course provides students an interdisciplinary discipline perspective on how communication and sustainable consumption are intertwined. The course covers current discourses and material practices around sustainable consumption, emphasizing on how social practices and interaction can shape sustainable consumption in community or even society. To elaborate, the course topics will encompass slow fashion, slow food, minimalism, or other everyday politics in relation to social movements and campaigns. Poslední úprava: Ariestya Angga, M.Sc.
