Média a technické obrazy je seminář zprostředkující úvod do teorie fotografického obrazu a vizuální kultury. Předmět je určen pro studenty prezenčního magisterského oboru žurnalistika se zájmem o vizuální kulturu a obraz. Studenti se seznámí s vývojem teoretického myšlení a pojímání vizuality 20. a 21. století. Důraz bude kladen na zásadní teoretické texty oboru vizuální studia a fotografie, které budou uváděny do kontextu současné umělecké a mediální praxe. Nedílnou součástí kurzu je diskuze nad čtenými texty a jejich reflexe.

"Media and technical images" is a seminar/workshop introduction to the theory of the photographic image and visual culture. The course is designed for foreign students with a background in visual culture and image: visual studies, journalism, sociology, history of art, etc. During the seminar, students will become familiar with the development of theoretical thinking and understanding of the visuality of the 20th and 21st centuries. The course will emphasize fundamental theoretical texts from the field of visual studies and photography and put them into the context of contemporary photography, art, and media practice. Essential parts of the course are the discussions, evaluations, and reflection above the texts we read.

Cílem předmětu je zvýšení povědomí o nejrozšířenějších vizuální formách v médiích, fotografie, a zvýšení vizuální gramotnosti posluchačů. Cílem předmětu Média a technické obrazy je seznámení studentů se základními texty fotografické teorie doplněné ukázkami relevantních děl z dějin fotografie. Výsledkem by mělo být hlubší pochopení charakteristik fotografického média, filozofických problémů vázaných na toto médium a prohloubení obecné vizuální gramotnosti posluchačů.

The aim of this course is to raise the awareness of the most common forms of visual media, photography, and increase the visual literacy of students. Students will deal with essential texts on the theory of photography accompanied by the examples of relevant works from the history of photography. Students should gain a deeper understanding of the characteristics of the photographic media, philosophical problems related to it, and deeper their general visual literacy.

Charakteristika prezentace: 5-8 min. , 3 až 6 slidů, analyzujících fotografii z dějin fotožurnalismu či teoretický problém - termín či myšlenku teorie fotografie. (Poslední slide představuje zdroje, přičemž se hodnotí i relevance těchto zdrojů.)
