The purpose of this course is to introduce the fascinating world of business disputes. We will be discussing and practising different ways to resolve business disputes, including mainly negotiation, mediation and arbitration. The area of business resolution is cross-sectional combining aspects of economics, law and even soft skills such as effective communication. As we believe that academics can only provide a part of the story, we have invited leading practitioners in the field to talk about real cases and advise on how to handle practical issues once a corporation is involved in a dispute. The course can be beneficial to students who aspire to work in financial or management roles and want to understand the theory and practise behind alternative dispute resolution practises. The course is largely interactive with several simulation exercises. No explicit prior knowledge is needed, but we do require active participation. |
