English for You
This seminar is designed as a practical language course. Its primary aim is to develop students’ communicative skills in English at B2 level. The course will focus on active speaking, vocabulary growth, different levels of formality and finally strengthening of grammar skills (esp. past tenses) to improve students’ knowledge of English at B2 level.
Course requirements:
• Regular attendance (maximum of 3 absences)
• Mini vocabulary test
• Final test
• Presentation
Assessment:

10% = passing a mini vocabulary test

30% = passing the final test

60% = presentation (includes project stages and presenting of the students’ final results)

The final test will include the vocabulary and grammar studied in class. The grammar will focus on the contrast between past tenses in English with the emphasis on narrative tenses in the context of the topic discussed.

The presentation will be based on a project slowly built in stages throughout the semester. The topics for the project will be related to the students’ Erasmus stay and their university life, such as: Prague Erasmus survival guide, Tips for dealing with homesickness, Culture shock, Trips around Prague/Czech Rep., Dis/Advantages of the Erasmus programme, Studying home and abroad, Favourite spot in Prague.
