Náplní předmětu je problematika komplexně pojatých dějin středověkého osídlení, s přesahem do raně novověkého období. V rámci přednášky bude ukázán význam řešení sídelně-historických problémů pro poznání společenského, kulturního a hospodářského vývoje Českých zemí v evropských souvislostech, s důrazem na klíčové období středověké proměny jako děje dlouhého trvání (6.-14. století). Předmět má výrazně interdisciplinární charakter a propojuje přístupy příbuzných společenských a částečně také přírodních věd, zejména historie, archeologie, kulturní antropologie a geografie. Absolvent předmětu by měl být schopen integrovat poznatky dílčích disciplin do sociálního a ekonomického vývoje jednotlivých regionů a následně do historických souvislostí. Zároveň by měl zvládnout kritickou analýzu poznatků zpřístupňovaných jednotlivými dílčími obory, především historií, etnografií, toponomastikou a sídelní geografií. V rámci předmětu budou probírány dosavadní poznatky české a evropské medievistiky, výsledky regionálních sond a diskutovány aktuální otázky.
Výuka bude zaměřena na:
(1) základní přehled koncepcí a řešených témat;
(2) výklad metod používaných dějinami osídlení;
(3) cvičení v kritickém zacházení s písemnými prameny a odbornou literaturou (zejména historie);

10.-11. Dějiny osídlení a koncept tzv. středověké proměny.;
12. Dějiny osídlení a koncept tzv. krize pozdního středověku.;
13. Dějiny osídlení a koncept regionálně rozdílného vývoje střední Evropy v mladším středověku a raném novověku.;

The course focuses on the complex history of medieval settlement, with an overlap into the early modern period. The lecture will show the importance of addressing settlement-historical problems for understanding the social, cultural and economic development of the Czech lands in the European context, with an emphasis on the key period of medieval transformation as an event of long duration (6th-14th centuries). The subject has a strongly interdisciplinary character and combines the approaches of related social sciences and partly also natural sciences, especially history, archaeology, cultural anthropology and geography. Graduates of the course should be able to integrate the findings of the sub-disciplines into the social and economic development of individual regions and subsequently into historical contexts. At the same time, the student should be able to critically analyse the knowledge made available by the individual sub-disciplines, especially history, ethnography, toponomastics and settlement geography. The course will discuss the existing knowledge of Czech and European medieval studies, the results of regional probes and current issues.
The lessons will focus on:
(1) a basic overview of concepts and topics addressed
(2) an explanation of the methods used in settlement history
(3) exercises in the critical treatment of written sources and specialized literature (especially history)
