Anotace

Should religious studies exist in the first place? What are the problems that come from being a religious insider/ outsider when it comes to research? Is it possible to study something that is founded in belief? This seminar is explicitly intended for second-year students of religious studies. It will consist of reading various articles that cover various theoretical themes in religious studies. The aim is to open a discussion on some basic theoretical questions of religious studies that are not covered in other subjects, but which every religious studies student should encounter. The sessions will be primarily discussion based, with students expected to actively engage with various questions.

Podmínky zakončení předmětu

Assessment will be based upon:

-Regular attendence and participation in class

-Presentation of and participation in a group presentation. This will be elaborated upon in class (and will depend on what students want to discuss) and the subject matters will be flexible
