Anotace

This is an elementary introduction to Hume's Treatise, Book I, Of the Understanding. It's based on reading and interpreting the text itself supported by occasional short lectures on historical and philosophical background of Hume's work.

Požadavky ke zkoušce

There are two conditions for getting the credits. 1.) Your active participation and presence at the lectures (you may be absent three times during the semestr) 2.) A written paper of about 6 Word pages which deals with some major issue of Hume's philosophy or presents some classical critique of his postion. Once the paper is submitted you need to defend it in a short 10 to 15 minute long discussion with me.
