This semester course is for beginners who would like to acquire the basics of the Czech language. It focuses on all four language skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking). Grammar is discussed in relation to conversational topics. Students also acquire basic knowledge about Czech culture. This course can be followed by the Advanced Beginners course in the spring.

By the end of the semester students will be able to introduce themselves and have a simple conversation about themselves.

They will be able to navigate around the city, ask for and give simple directions, aks for prices of foos and drinks, order and pay for a meal at a restaurant.

They will learn the days of the week and make simple arrangements and apologies.
