Poznámka k LS 2026: Výuka předmětu je zajišťována předmětem Syntax and semantics (2/2). Studenti programu Anglický jazyk si však zapisují pouze přednášku (čtvrtek 14:10-15:40).
Předmět je koncipován jako úvod do syntaktické analýzy ve funkčně-kognitivním pojetí konstrukční gramatiky.
Studenti se seznámí s teoretickými východisky konstrukčního přístupu k syntaktickému popisu a analýze, převážně
v práci s anglickým a českým jazykovým materiálem. Cílem je vypěstovat si schopnost (i) přesného jazykového
pozorování, (ii) pečlivé analýzy formálních a sémanticko-pragmatických jevů v syntaxi a (iii) obhajování vlastních
závěrů na základě empirických důkazů.

This course is intended to solidify basic understanding of the inner workings of Construction Grammar (CxG), a cognitively and functionally oriented framework in which syntactic representations are understood as conventionalized associations between form and function. Focus will be on the framework’s analytic methods and on articulating generalizations about speakers’ linguistic knowledge, using material primarily from English and Czech. We will also examine the ways in which variation in grammatical form can be systematically captured and explained, and consider the question in what sense the constructional approach can serve as a universal model of language.
