The seminar provides an introduction to English lexicology, the theoretical and practical description of the English lexicon. The first part explores word-formation, offering a systematic overview of the major processes that create new lexical items and contribute to the lexicon’s dynamic character. The second part examines core issues in lexical semantics, including key semantic relations (synonymy, antonymy, hyponymy, polysemy, homonymy) and basic theoretical approaches to meaning.
Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on the practical application of the described processes and relations to real language data. Poslední úprava: Brůhová Gabriela, PhDr., Ph.D. (22.01.2026)
