    Charge for the admission procedure

    Note: Each applicant who submits an online application has two ways to pay the application fee: either via online payment by card, or payment by bank transfer (in this case, the payment must be labelled with a unique variable symbol generated in the information system).

    The application fee will not be refunded.

    Information on the admission procedure: The admission procedure is initiated by the receipt of the application form.

    Conditions of admission:
    1. demonstration of knowledge, skills, and abilities for study according to the specifics of the admission procedure for each programme,
    2. submitting a certified copy of the secondary school leaving certificate.

    The period for providing a certified copy of the secondary school leaving certificate is limited to 30 September 2025. For applicants who have passed the school-leaving examination in the autumn examination period and for applicants whose application for recognition of foreign education has not been decided by 30 September 2025, the period is limited to 22 October 2025.

    Applicants who have completed their previous education at a foreign secondary school shall submit one of the following documents to substantiate their previous education: proof of general recognition of the equivalence or validity of a foreign document of secondary education in the Czech Republic ("secondary education certificate"); or a foreign document of foreign secondary education with a matriculation (“maturita”) examination which is automatically equivalent in the Czech Republic according to its international agreements without further official procedure (“maturita” certificates from Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Slovenia); or a foreign document of foreign secondary education to be assessed by the Faculty of Humanities (fee of CZK 960). Detailed information on how to prove that the condition of secondary education with a matriculation examination has been met for graduates of foreign secondary schools can be found on the faculty's website: https://fhs.cuni.cz/FHSENG-912.html.

    In accordance with Article 4(5) of the Code of Admissions Procedure the invitation to the entrance examination is sent no later than 30 days before the date of the examination. If the faculty sends an invitation for an alternative date of the entrance examination, this time period may be shortened accordingly. The invitation shall be sent only in electronic form via the Student Information System.

    Applicants must present a valid identity document at the entrance examination.

    Applicants will be granted an alternative date for the entrance examination only in justified cases (in particular for health reasons). Applicants must send their request for an alternative date for the entrance examination within three days of the date of the regular examination date. The application must be submitted and processed via the Student Information System. No further alternative dates shall be permitted.

    Applicants with special needs may request a modification of the entrance examination. In this case, a substantiated request supported by a medical certificate must be included in the application form. The application for a modification of the entrance examination shall be submitted and processed via the Student Information System.
    The application for a modification of the entrance examination for the Liberal Arts and Humanities programme must be submitted to Scio and must comply with its terms and conditions.

    The period for the submission of a certified copy of a bachelor's or master's degree is limited to 30 September 2025. For applicants whose application for recognition of foreign education has not been decided by 30 September 2025, as well as for applicants who have completed their studies in a bachelor's or master's degree programme between 1 and 30 September 2025, the period is limited to 22 October 2025.

    Applicants who have completed their higher education at a foreign higher education institution shall submit one of the following documents to substantiate their previous education: a document of general recognition of foreign higher education in the Czech Republic, obtained pursuant to Sections 89 and 90 of the Higher Education Act (the "general nostrification"); a foreign document of foreign higher education which is automatically equivalent in the Czech Republic according to its international agreements without further official procedure (university diploma and supplement from Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Slovenia); or a foreign proof of foreign higher education to be assessed by the Faculty of Humanities (fee of CZK 960). Detailed information on how to prove that you have completed your studies in a bachelor's or master's degree programme for graduates of foreign universities can be found on the faculty's website: https://fhs.cuni.cz/FHSENG-912.html.

    Other information

    Information on the admission procedure: Additional specifications of the admission process are stated in the descriptions of the study programs. All study programs are carried out without specialization.

    Conditions of admission:
    1) Submission of a duly completed application form by the specified deadline, including the prescribed components and attachments;
    2) achievement of the point threshold for admission set by the Dean, which is determined by the Dean taking into account the number of applicants taking the entrance examination, taking into account the capacity and economic possibilities of the Faculty;
    3) supplying a certified copy of a document certifying completion of a master's degree - applicants who have completed their studies abroad shall submit proof of equivalence of education in cases where this is required by law.

    The applicant who completed the previous higher education at a foreign higher education institution, must submit one of the following documents: a document obtained in accordance with sections 89 and 90 of the Higher Education Act proving general recognition of a foreign higher education in the Czech Republic (so-called "nostrification"); a foreign document concerning a foreign higher education if it is deemed automatically equivalent in the Czech Republic in accordance with its international agreements without any further administrative procedures (a higher education diploma and diploma supplement from Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, or Slovenia); or a foreign document concerning a foreign higher education to be assessed by the Faculty (for a fee of CZK 960). Detailed information about the manner of proving fulfilment of the requirement of completion of a bachelor’s or master’s programme of study for graduates of foreign higher education institutions is available on the faculty website https://fhs.cuni.cz/FHSENG-912.html. The applicant should send the required documents to the address of the Faculty no later than August 31, 2025. The applicant should pay the recognition fee (together with the application fee, or later when they submit the documents to the Faculty for the purpose of recognition) when they file a request for recognition of the foreign education.

    A letter announcing the exam’s date is sent to applicants in advance. Applicants who cannot take the exam because of justified reasons (for example, illness) are given an extra opportunity to take the exam. Taking an entrance exam at a different school on the same day is not considered a justified reason. The request for a later date should include the justification (for example, a medical report) and should be delivered to the Doctoral Study Administration Office no later than three calendar days of the exam’s regularly scheduled date.

    Applicants with a disability, such as a specific learning difficulty, can request that the admission process be specially adapted to meet their needs. In this case a medical report must be included with the application form.

    Applicants must show a passport or other official identity document to take the exam. No dictionaries or other books, prior notes, mobile phones or other digital devices are allowed during the exam.

    Medical certificates are not required.
