| Note: | The filing of an application and the acts associated with the admissions procedure are subject to a fee of CZK 940, to be paid electronically via a bank transfer or by a payment card to the account of the Faculty at KB Praha 2, bank account number 0000868986130237/0100. | Information on the admission procedure: | In the 2026/2027 academic year the Faculty of Law of Charles University will open a two-year, full-time specialised course of study in the post-bachelor study programme of Specialised Law Studies in the English language. The admissions procedure to the post-bachelor study programme will take place pursuant to sec. 48 and foll. of Act No. 111/1998 Sb., providing for higher education institutions, as amended, and pursuant to the Code of Admissions Procedure of Charles University. An application for study is to be filed by 30 April 2026 for the following specialised courses of study: Business and Competition Law Health Law Human Rights Law An applicant files a separate application for each particular specialised course of study; the applicant can file a separate application for multiple specialised courses of study. Each application is assessed separately by a relevant examination board appointed by the Dean of the Faculty. In compliance with Part II hereof, the examination board will assess whether the requirements for studying in the post-bachelor programme of study with a given specialisation are satisfied. The admission examination consists of two rounds and is conducted in the English language. In the first round, which takes place between 4 May and 7 May 2026, the examination board will assess the documents duly submitted by applicants for study by the set deadline; the documents to be submitted are listed in Part III hereof. The examination board will, in particular, assess the applicant’s interest in a course with a chosen specialisation based on a motivation letter presented, as well as based on the applicant’s previous academic results. The maximum number of points which an applicant can achieve in the first round of the admission examination is 40, and they are divided as follows: a. resumé: a maximum of 10 points b. transcript of academic results: a maximum of 10 points c. motivation letter: a maximum of 20 points.
In order to proceed into the second round of the examination, an applicant must achieve a total of at least 25 points in the above-listed categories (a – c).
In the second round of the examination, which is held between 18 May and 21 May 2026, the examination board will verify and asses, in an interview with the applicant, the facts presented in the submitted documents, as well as the applicant’s motivation, interest in the field, and knowledge. If the applicant cannot be physically present at the interview, they will be permitted to do it remotely via MSTeams or another suitable communication platform.
The substitute term for the second round will take place between 1 June and 4 June 2026. |

Application for study As of 1 December 2025, an electronic application form will be available at https://is.cuni.cz/studium/eng/prijimacky/. The application, including its attachments, must be sent in the electronic system no later than by 23:59:59 on 30 April 2026. A. General information regarding the checking of the satisfaction of the requirement of previous education: An applicant who completed their tertiary education at a university/higher educational institution abroad will present, for the purposes of proving what education they have attained, any of the following documents: 1. A certificate of general recognition in the Czech Republic of the attainment of a university/higher education degree abroad (a so-called general recognition certificate). The applicant will present the following: an authenticated copy of a certificate of general recognition in the Czech Republic of the attainment of a university/higher education degree abroad, obtained in compliance with secs. 89 and 90 of the Higher Education Institutions Act, or in compliance with preceding legislation. An institution competent to issue a certificate of general recognition of a university degree is a higher education institution which offers, or has the right to offer, a study programme in at least one of the areas of study into which the foreign study programme falls. If you select Charles University as the institution that will issue the general recognition certificate, more details regarding the procedure for the issuance of a general recognition certificate for a university/higher education institution degree at Charles University can be found at https://cuni.cz/UK-10205.html. There is a fee of CZK 3,000 to be sent along with the application to the Student Affairs Department at the Rectorate of Charles University, which deals with issues of the recognition of degrees obtained abroad (a general recognition certificate can be used for any purpose within the entire territory of the Czech Republic). 2. A document proving the attainment of a university/higher education degree abroad which is equivalent to Czech degrees without a need for any further official procedure. A foreign certificate of the attainment of a university/higher education degree which is, based on international agreements binding on the Czech Republic, equivalent to Czech certificates without a need for any further official procedure. This applies to documents proving the completion of a programme of study in Poland, Hungary, Slovenia, or Slovakia (with the exception of diplomas issued by foreign branches of a Slovak higher education institution after 28 March 2015, in the case of which the procedure under paragraph 3 below applies). The applicant will present the following: · an authenticated copy of the diploma, certificate, or a similar document (e.g. a certificate of completion of studies) issued by a foreign university/higher education institution; · the original, or an authenticated copy, of a diploma supplement or of a transcript of exams passed; and · in the case of a certificate of a university/higher education degree issued by a Slovak university/higher education institution after 28 March 2015, a certificate regarding the country in which the study programme completed by the applicant was implemented is additionally required. Not subject to a fee. 3. A foreign document proving the attainment of higher education abroad, which will be assessed by the Faculty itself, for a fee. The applicant will present the following: · an authenticated copy of a diploma, a certificate, or a similar document (e.g. a certificate of completion of studies) issued by a foreign university/higher education institution; · the original, or an authenticated copy, of a diploma supplement or a transcript of exams passed. If necessary, the Faculty will invite the applicant to also present:
· The assessment is only valid for the admissions procedure at one faculty within a given academic year. · A fee of CZK 990 is due on the date of the filing of the application for the assessment of the education attained abroad within the admissions procedure. B. Elements of the application for study 1. Mandatory attachments which constitute an integral part of the electronic application include: i. An authenticated copy of a document (in compliance with section A above) proving the completion of university/higher education (at least at the bachelor or a corresponding level) in the field of law, or in another field related to the subject of the specialisation selected, including the transcript of courses completed. If the study has not yet been completed, it is necessary to present a certificate of ongoing studies in the relevant academic year. ii. A structured resumé. iii. A motivation letter not exceeding 2 pages, which should establish the applicant’s motivation for studying the relevant specialisation and outline the applicant’s career goals after the completion of the programme of study. 2. All documents are to be submitted in English. Documents in other languages must be officially translated into English, except documents under B.1, which may be submitted either in the Czech language or Slovak language, provided that they have been issued in those languages. 3. The applicant must attach all required documents under paragraph 1 to the application for study and upload them together into the relevant module of the Study Information System no later than by 30 April 2026. 4. The requirement under paragraph 3 also applies to anticipated graduates from universities/higher education institutions, as well as to applicants who applied for study in the preceding years. 5. An applicant who fails to submit the application, including all attachments specified above, by 30 April 2026 will be invited to complement their submission, for which a reasonable time period will be determined. If the applicant fails to meet the deadline, a resolution on the discontinuance of the admissions procedure due to substantial defects in the application will be issued, which constitutes an impediment to further proceedings, which cannot continue. |
