    Doors open day: The date of the Open Day in 2024 will be confirmed. All applicants, prospective students and their families are invited to get a glimpse of the faculty´s life and its study programmes.

    Information on the admission procedure: How to start your studies at First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University:
    • Fill in and submit the application form or contact one of our representatives. The deadline is 30th April 2024.
    • Get ready for the compulsory entrance examination and successfully pass it.
    • Confirm your interest and submit verified documents of your secondary education.
    • Attend the enrollment in September and become a student at our faculty.

    How and When to Apply:
    Each student can file one application for one study programme (it is possible to apply both for General Medicine and Dentistry programmes). Application can be submitted directly to the First Faculty of Medicine by filling in the online application form or by contacting one of our representatives who will help you with admissions. Students may start their application process prior to completing their secondary education.

    Once your application is received and processed an invitation letter for the entrance exam will be sent to you electronically. If you need any special arrangements in order to organize your travels to entrance examination please contact us individually.

    Under Art. 4 (5) of the Admissions Procedure Code of Charles University, the faculty is to send to an applicant the invitation to an entrance examination through the University Electronic Information System not later than 30 days before the date of the examination. Should the faculty send an invitation for an alternative date of the entrance examination this period may be shortened accordingly. A password to log into the electronic information system is obtained by an applicant after the applicant submitted the application to study.

    Admissions Procedure
    Students are offered a place at the Faculty based on their result in our admissions procedure. It consists of written test from Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and a series of mini-interviews.

    For the entrance exam in Prague, you need to bring an invitation letter from our faculty (you should receive it beforehand by e-mail).

    There is also additional date for Prague’s examination, two weeks after the regular term of the entrance exam, which is designated for those who can not attend the regular date. Though please note that there will be only limited time for you to make all the necessary arrangements (visa and accommodation application, etc) should you attend this additional term, mainly due to short period of time between the examination and enrollment. Those mentioned reasons wouldn’t be accepted as legitimate reasons for postponing your enrollment or any of the study obligations. Therefore it is highly recommended to make it to the regular term, unless you have some serious reason not to.

    Tuition and Costs
    Annual tuition fees:

    600,000 CZK for Dentistry programme


    The applicant who completed the previous level of education at a foreign secondary school, must submit one of the following documents: a document proving that a foreign document concerning the obtainment of secondary education is generally recognised as equivalent or valid in the Czech Republic (so-called “nostrification”), or a document proving the granting of the European Baccalaureate, or a foreign document concerning a foreign secondary education completed with a “maturita” examination, if it is deemed automatically equivalent in the Czech Republic in accordance with its international agreements without any further administrative procedures (a “maturita school leaving certificate” from Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, or Slovenia), or a foreign document concerning a foreign secondary education to be assessed by the faculty (for a fee of CZK 930). Detailed information about the manner of proving fulfilment of the requirement of obtainment of secondary education with a “maturita” school-leaving examination for graduates of foreign secondary schools is available on the faculty website in section Applicants, Admitted students https://en.lf1.cuni.cz/admitted-students.

    . Go to your e-mail, and put data from here to the system
    . You will see the tab "For foreigners without PID number" and you will fill your personal data
    . After you will fill the date of birth, sex and nationality, you will choose as faculty First faculty of medicine
    . Then you fill the Type and form of study as full-time Master's
    . After that you will fill Study Field: you will choose General Medicine or Dentistry
    . Then create application form, you will have to fill all compulsory fields
    . You will save application and get the PDF.

    You have to pay 7,000 CZK for application form (as administration fee). If we don't receive the payment before the deadline 30. 4. 2024, the Faculty will inform the applicant. Without payment the applicant won't be allowed to attend the entrance exam.

    There is a total number of 20 places available to applicants for academic year 2024/2025.

    Confirm your attendance on enrolment in Faculty database first.
    Enrolment takes place in Prague for all admitted applicants usually few days prior to the start of the academic year (exact dates to be confirmed).
    Following will be required on your enrollment day:
    • Admission valid for the respective academic year
    • Valid long-term Visa, if applicable
    • Provide an evidence of completed bachelor education
    • Signed Study Contract

    The applicant who completed the previous level of education at a foreign country, must submit a document proving that a foreign document concerning the obtainment of bachelor education is generally recognised as equivalent or valid in the Czech Republic (so-called “nostrification”). Fee for nostrification is CZK 930.     Application form requisites: An application has to be filed electonically through Study information system (SIS) https://is.cuni.cz/studium/eng/login.php?do=prihlaska before 29.2.2024.
    An application fee has to be paid for the actions connected with the admission procedure, which is for an electronic version of the application 5000CZK.

    After filling out the application in the electronic form, a variable symbol is generated by the information system for each applicant, which must be indicated when paying the application fee.

    The fee must be paid by February 29, 2024 at the latest. If the payment is not made, the admission procedure will be stopped. Check the payment status in the My applications section.
    The fee is non-refundable at every stage of the admissions process.

    Information on the admission procedure: The admissions procedure starts with the submission, by 30 April 2024, of a correctly filled-in appli-cation form and payment of the fee for services connected with the admissions procedure.

    CONDITIONS FOR ACCEPTANCE
    ● Completed tertiary education at master’s level, with documentary evidence submitted by 30 Sep-tember 2024.
    Applicants sitting the final state examination during the autumn examination period and applicants for whom no decision has been made on their application for the recognition of foreign education by 30 September 2024 have until 22 October 2024 to submit the required documentation.
    Graduates of Czech higher education institutions (HEU) must prove their fulfilment of this condition by submission of an officially verified copy of their diploma or, if applicable, the original of confirma-tion of their completion of the required level of education (as a temporary measure before they re-ceive their diploma). This requirement does not apply to graduates of master’s degree courses at Charles University.

    ● Pass in the admission examination

    ADMISSION EXAMINATION:
    Applicants will receive an invitation to their admission interview online through the Study Infor-mation System (SIS).
    • The admission examination takes the form of a single paper consisting of one or more parts. The format of examinations is specified for each individual degree programme.
    • In the admission examination applicants must demonstrate their technical and linguistic capabili-ties for study in the relevant study programme and their prospects for independent research work.
    As part of the admissions procedure we also determine the applicant’s interest in dealing with a specific topic with a specific supervisor.

    Official dates: 01.06.2024 - 30.06.2024
    The exact dates of admission interviews will be published after they have been set by the relevant subject-area board during the month of April 2024.

    Substitute dates: 06.06.2024 - 31.07.2024
    Applicants can only request a substitute date for serious, documented reasons, in particular for health reasons, and within three days of the official date of an examination. Applications are sub-mitted and processed through the University’s Study Information System (SIS).

    The Dean may permit the sitting of an admission examination by means of information and commu-nication technology for serious, documented reasons, in particular for reasons of health or study abroad, based on an application submitted through the University’s online information system, gen-erally following the receipt of an application by the faculty and no later than 10 May 2024.

    Information on degree programmes and the admissions procedure is available from the Dean’s Office (CU First Faculty of Medicine, Research Office, Kateřinská 32, Praha 2). Opening hours: Monday 08:00 – 12:30, Tuesday and Thursday 12:30 – 15:30.

    We prefer applications to be submitted online.

    When submitting their application, applicants must pay a fee for services connected with the admis-sions procedure to the amount of 780.- CZK for online applications or 830.- CZK for applications in hard copy. In the event of failure to pay the fee to the faculty’s bank account by 30 April 2024, the faculty shall request payment of the fee from the applicant within an appropriate deadline. In the event of failure to pay within this deadline, the procedure will be stopped following a decision. In the event that an application is submitted to the faculty after 30 April 2024, the faculty will stop the pro-cedure following a decision.

    3. Help files for the admissions procedure – for the Experimental Surgery study programme only.
    a) Written consent of the head of the workplace for the applicant’s project to be realised at the workplace for which they are responsible.
    b) Every project must be accompanied by a statement by the ethics commission. This must be attached in hard copy.
    4. Evidence of a master’s degree
    a) Students of master’s programmes: Confirmation of ongoing master’s studies issued by the stu-dent registry.
    b) Graduates of master’s programmes: Graduates of CU must submit the usual unverified copy of their diploma and graduates of Czech universities other than CU must submit an officially verified copy of their diploma. If an applicant does not yet have their diploma, they must submit confirm of the completion of studies issued by the student registry.

    5. Overview of previous activities – list of published and unpublished papers by the applicant (or peer reviews of these papers) and other documents worthy of attention (e.g. documentation of specialist courses completed).
