Annotation
The course content includes practical training in more advanced and less common diagnostic, therapeutic, and prophylactic procedures in all areas of dentistry within a dental practice. It also covers the fundamentals of work in various dental disciplines.

Aim of the course

After completing the course, students are capable of:

  • Perform a preventive examination of the teeth and oral cavity.
  • Examine a patient with an acute condition and establish a diagnosis.
  • Take and analyze X-ray images. Perform simple dental procedures (removal of supragingival dental calculus, dental hygiene instruction).
  • Carry out basic dental treatments (treatment of minor carious lesions, simple tooth extractions, periodontal treatment, basic prosthetic procedures).
  • Perform more complex dental treatments (treatment of larger carious lesions and those near the pulp chamber, endodontic treatment, tooth extractions, implant-supported prosthetic work, treatment of handicapped patients).

Requirements to the exam

Credit

Credit will be given to the students who:

  1. take part on all of the practical classes,
  2. get at least 80 points from practical classes at the department of restorative dentistry,
  3. perform root canal treatment of a molar in patient's mouth,
  4. extract at least 3 permanent teeth,
  5. minimum attendance at seminars 90%,
  6. get at least 35 points from practical classes at the department of prosthodontic dentistry, 
  7. complete a CPR seminar. 

In the case of repeating a study obligation, the student is required to complete the study obligation in its entirety.

Practical courses

  1. Students will be divided into pairs. Work on different clinical departments of the Dental Clinic according to schedule. The content of practical classes is determined by the supervising doctor.
