The course aims at introducing some basic concepts of English phonetics and phonology on the segmental level including the changes individual sounds undergo in connected speech (assimilation, elision, coarticulation and liaison). The reference accent used throughout the course is General British. The main emphasis in the seminars is put on training the pronunciation of selected English sounds and on the development of transcription skills.
