SP characteristics

Strategic Communication, by its simplified definition, helps organizations to achieve their goals. Strategic Communicatio helps organizations to manage their stakehoder relations, and react to current social, political or economical events and trends and manage the process of change, so that the organization can prove it legitimacy, responsibility and value for the society. The field of Strategic communication has emerged in the early 21st century in reaction to the digital revolution and changes in the security situation, which posess many challenges in communication and information-communication technologies (ICT). Those changes require building new skills and knowledge.
Even though it is primarily considered a part of communication studies, it integrates a large row of other social sciences, primarily psychology, behavioural economics, political sciences or media studies et al. Nowadays, when most parts of inter-human and social communication takes place via technology, either traditional or digital media, there is a space for an analysis and a theoretical reflexion of the communication. Due to the progress of technological possibilities there arises a large number of pressing social science questions which call for a deeper philosophical reflexion and an update of ethical as well as legislative norms in the society (primarily in the field of consumer protection, personal data protection, influence of various organizations (political parties, commercial companies or activists groups and similar) on free decision making of an individual. The graduates of this field of study will be qualified to pursue their own academic career and get a doctors degree primarily in Media and Communication Studies or take on leading positions as communication specialists and autonomous managers in the area of strategic communication, marketing communication or public relations. As opposed to the bachelor degree graduates, the students are being prepared for a professional career as high ranked managers, to work independently and lead and manage teams. The students are motivated to apply the acquired knowledge to concrete areas which are connected to communication. At the same time, they are required to gain knowledge of persuasive communication and persuasion, trust management, stakeholder and target groups segmentation and a methodology and rules of strategic management. Most important and an integral part of strategic communication is ethics, ethical decision making and social responsibility in all areas of communication.
