The course is divided into following parts:
energy levels and types of transitions, molecular spectroscopy units, potential energy curves, molecular parameters, selection rules, etc.;
symmetry of molecules, symmetry operations and elements, basic postulates of the group theory, point and space symmetry groups, matrix symmetry presentation, etc.;
infrared and Raman spectroscopy – basic theoretical principles, bases of instrumentation and spectra measurement;
vibrational, rotational, vibrational-rotational spectra; rigid rotor, harmonic and anharmonic oscillator, information from vibrational-rotational spectra , etc.;
polyatomic particles vibrations, normal vibrations, number and types of vibrations, symmetry of vibrations, character tables, representations, vibrational spectra interpretations;
vibrational spectroscopy of inorganic (from 2 to 7 atoms) and coordination compounds (simple ligands, coordination and symmetry); Fermi resonance, tunnel effect, isotopic effect, etc.
