Kurz je určen studentům bakalářského oboru marketingové komunikace a PR, kteří dosáhli pokročilé úrovně B2 podle Evropského referenčního rámce. Kurz probíhá 2 semestry a začíná vždy v podzimním semestru. Cílem kurzu je osvojení jazyka v daném oboru. Studenti budou pracovat se články z oboru a rozšíří si slovní zásobu. Důraz je kladen také na rozvoj komunikativních a akademických dovedností.

This is the second part of a two part course. It is designed for non-native speakers who would like opportunities to study and discuss issues and ideas associated with marketing and PR. A prerequisite for this course is a successfull completion of the winter term JLB045. The objective of this course is for students to expand their vocabulary in terms of marketing, to improve their communication and academic skills.

Cílem kurzu je překlenout propast mezi středoškolskou obecnou angličtinou a potřebami studenta FSV. Po absolvování kurzu se od studenta očekává, že bude schopen sledovat odborné přednášky v angličtině doma i v zahraničí a diskutovat se zahraničními hosty, dále bude schopen obhájit si v angličtině své názory a účastnit se zahraničních stáží.

The objective of this course is to bridge the gap between general secondary school English and the needs of a university student. After the course students should be able to communicate in both oral as well as written form, follow business and marketing lectures in English with ease, to present and discuss related topics in English and to do an internship abroad.

Various approaches will be used. Students will get acquainted with the specific vocabulary and its content on the basis of the texts. Emphasis will be placed on communication skills and active use of English. The main methods used will be pair work, group work, and sometimes individual work. Students are expected to prepare for sessions and to participate actively in classroom activities and discussions.

FINAL ASSESSMENT
The total assessment will consist of the following parts (TOTAL 100%)
Final Assessment Scale: 0-50% = F; 51-60% = E; 61-70 % = D; 71-80% =C; 81-90% = B; 91% and more =A
1) 10% Graph description; MANDATORY; written in the class; for all students using advanced vocabulary and required structure.
2) 30 % Presentation MANDATORY for all including presentation delivery and presentation peer feedback. Length: 220-300 words; sample in SIS. Students must register for one of the dates according to Course Plan. Presentation must be delivered in the seminar by 18.5. The Presentation must include a relevant graph, chart or another data set.
3) 40% Final Test MANDATORY for allThe test will include reading comprehension, vocabulary, summary, academic/formal style, and a writing assignment from the marketing field based on Handouts from this term. Pass level 50%.
4) 10% Debate participation MANDATORY for all * Debate participation may be replaced by participation in the discussion with Eva Lustig.
5) 10% REGULAR STUDENTS class work and homework : active participation, regular attendance, regular submission of written HW (e.g. presentation swot analysis, OOH response, crisis communication). More details to be given weekly by email.
10% SELF-STUDY commercial analysis Length: 400-500 words

Úspěšné absolvování podzimního semestru předmětu JLB045, Angličtina pro marketing, je předpokladem pro zápis do letního semestru. Požadovaná úroveň je B2, preferovaná úroveň je B2+ dle CEFR.

Successful completion of winter term JLB045 English for marketing I. is a prerequisite for enrolment in the summer course. The required level of English is at least level B2 upper-intermediate (European Reference Framework), otherwise students may not be able to follow the lessons. Level B2+ is preferable.
