The aims of the study unit are that the student: - knows how to apply the processes of working with people - know how to use the methods of participatory social work or community development especially in working with adults - is able to adopt different roles and use different methods in professional practice with users - is able to reflect on the work processes and critically evaluate own working methods and those of the placement organisation - is able to reflect on personal and professional learning and the development of own professional identity - Is able to link the processes and methods to the practice of diaconal social work and to the life of the church(es) The contents of the study unit include: - Work processes and methods - Supervision in social work practice - Personal and professional evaluation & reflection - Personal and professional growth - Reflection and report writing in professional work Process of the Study Unit Note: The assignments in the other study units this semester complement the placement plan and the seminars on these items in the contact teaching period will also cover placement reporting. Each student must keep a learning diary of the whole period and a log of the hours worked, as agreed with the placement supervisor and the responsible teacher. Week One .33cr Mag. Basic literature and study aids: The student should use at least four sources from other study units in the semester reading material in the placement report plus use: Healy, K. & Mulholland, J., Writing Skills for Social Workers, 2007, London, Sage, Parts 1 & 2 as a resource handbook.

Consultations: 14 hrs. individual consultation (placement supervisor) 1 hour a week; 4 hrs. supervision sessions with Responsible Teacher; 4hrs. feedback session. (in total 22 hours)
Individual work: 248 hours student work in placement, including completion of placement report. |
