The course is primarily intended for Erasmus students. It has two variants, which change based on a two-year period. The first variant is focused on remote sensing (variant 1), the second concentrates on cartography, GIS and visualization (variant 2). Divide current year by 4 for actual variant. For remainder 0 or 3, variant 1 will be held; for remainder 1 or 2, variant 2 will be held (e.g. in 2014/4 = 53 remainder 2, i.e. variant 2 will be taught).
(1) REMOTE SENSING VARIANT This variant covers selected topics in the field of remote sensing: 1) Introduction to remote sensing 2) Object based classification for suburbanization development evaluation 3) Hyperspectral data, their processing, geologic and vegetation applications 4) DTM extraction from images and laser scans 5) Land Use/Land Cover Change - data, methods and results 6) Applications of GIS in nature sciences 7) Object extraction from images and laser scans 8) Introduction to radar remote sensing
(2) CARTOGRAPHY AND GIS VARIANT This variant covers advanced features of mathematical cartography, 2D and 3D visualization. Please note that the accomplishment of related practical exercises requires knowledge of calculus and experience with ArcGIS. Experience with programming and airborne laser scanning is the advantage. During the first lesson, a test will be given to the attendants. If you do not pass the test successfully, it is strongly recommended to choose another course. Following topics are covered: 1) Mathematical cartography 2) Digital cartographic relief presentation with the use of airborne laser scanning data 3) Selected aspects of 3D visualization |
