Jedním z důležitých důkazových prostředků v diskrétní matematice je
aplikace vět z algebraické topologie, zejména různých vět o pevném bodě a
pod. V přednášce probereme potřebné topologické pojmy a výsledky
(většinou bez důkazů nebo jen s nástiny důkazů) a dokážeme několik
kombinatorických a geometrických výsledků topologickými metodami.
Vhodné pro studenty vyšších ročníků matematiky a teoreticky zaměřené
informatiky a pro doktorandy.

One of the important proof techniques in discrete mathematics
is the application of theorems from algebraic topology.
The course covers the necessary topological preliminaries
and establishes several combinatorial and geometric results
by topological methods, mainly using the Borsuk-Ulam theorem.

One of the important tools in discrete mathematics is the application of theorems of algebraic topology, most notably, of various fixpoint theorems.
In this lecture we concentrate on the Borsuk-Ulam theorem; we cover the necessary topological background and we prove several geometric and combinatorial theorems topologically.
