The students will be provided with a basic overview of the historical development of theoretical reflection on gesture and sign language in Western culture, as well as with detailed information concerning the history of Deaf communities. |

The students are required to attend the lectures (two absences are allowed) and to participate in discussions. By the end of the semester, they will be required to write a short final paper (approx. 5 standard pages, spacing 1.5) dealing with the topic of their choice, more or less loosely connected with the topics treated in the class. The lecturer is available as for the consultation of the topics. In the case the university will be closed due to pandemic or other reasons, the lectures will take place via Zoom. The requierements will remain the same. |
