Emergency Medicine: theoretical and practical teaching is focused on Basic an Advanced Life Support in adults and children, basic principles of perioperative and intensive care, principles of monitoring, techniques of general and regional anaesthesia and the management of acute and chronic pain.

1. Advanced Life Support, Paediatric Advanced Life Support - airway management, drugs and equipment in Life Support, defibrillation

2. Emergency, perioperative and intensive care - respiratory failure, circulatory failure, shock, sepsis, polytrauma, acido-basic disorders, acute poisoning, burns, coma, mechanical ventilation, fluid therapy, management of blood loss, monitoring.

3. Anaesthesia - premedication, risks of anaesthesia, techniques of general anaesthesia, techniques of regional anaesthesia, perioperative monitoring, drugs and interventional techniques in acute and chronic pain.

Main focus is put on the development of practical skills - teaching in the small groups in the theatres and Intensive Care settings, case-based discussions, direct observation of basic procedural skills and training of the ALS and airway management on the manikins.
