    Information on the admission procedure: At the entrance interview, the candidate is supposed to prove professional capacity and language skills needed to study the respective programme, as well as the qualities required for independent scientific work.

    Part of the entance procedure is also investigation of the candidate’s interest in a particular research topic of a potential supervisor.

    For the academic year 2025/2026, the dean of the Second Faculty of Medicine, Charles University announces the entrance procedures for full-time and/or part time form of studies in doctoral study programmes.

    All doctoral study programmes at the Second Faculty of Medicine, Charles University are without specializations.

    Admission requirements:

    Completed university education at the master's level documented by September 30, 2025.
    Applicants who will take the state final exam in the autumn examination period, as well as applicants whose applications for recognition of foreign education have not been decided by September 30, 2025, must submit the necessary document no later than October 22, 2025.
    Graduates of Czech universities must prove compliance with this condition by an officially certified copy of their diploma, or the original of the certificate of completion of the required education (temporarily until they receive the diploma). This requirement does not apply to graduates of master's studies at Charles University.

    To be admitted to full-time studies, the applicant must obtain the minimum number of points for successfully passing the entrance exam and at the same time obtain the minimum number of points necessary for admission. The minimum number of points for successfully passing the entrance exam is determined in advance for each study program separately. The minimum number of points for admission is determined by the Dean based on the results of the entrance exams with regard to the expected number of admitted applicants and the economic and capacity capabilities of the faculty.

    To be admitted to part-time studies, the applicant must obtain the minimum number of points for successfully passing the entrance exam, which is equal to the minimum number of points necessary for admission.

    Entrance exam, dates, form:

    Regular date: 1. 6. 2025 – 30. 6. 2025
    Alternate date: 10. 6. 2025 - 30. 7. 2025
    The exact dates of the admission interviews will be published after being determined by the relevant departmental council during the month of April 2025.

    The invitation to the admission interview will be delivered to the applicants electronically via the Study Information System (SIS).
    The applicant may request an alternative date only for serious and documented reasons, especially health reasons, within three days of the exam being held on the regular date. The request is submitted and processed via the University's Student Information System (SIS).
    For serious and documented reasons, especially health reasons or studies abroad, the Dean may, on the basis of a request submitted in the university's electronic information system, usually after the application is received by the faculty, but no later than May 10, 2025, allow the entrance examination to be taken via information and communication technologies.

    Entrance examination form:

    The entrance examination is a single-round examination and consists of one or more parts. A more detailed specification is provided for individual study programmes.

    During the admission interview, the applicant must demonstrate the professional and language skills to study the relevant programme and the prerequisites for independent scientific work.

    Admission to a form of study other than that for which the application was submitted:

    Based on the assessment of the examination committee, the faculty may offer the applicant, via the university's electronic information system, a form of study of the same doctoral study programme other than that for which the applicant has submitted his/her application for studies. The faculty shall set the applicant a period of at least seven days to accept the offer. If the applicant accepts the offer, the faculty will change the form of study in the application and the dean will issue a decision on admission to the changed form of study. If the applicant does not accept this offer or does not respond to the offer within the specified deadline, the dean will issue a decision on admission to the form of study for which the applicant submitted the application.

    The electronic form of application is preferable.

    After submitting the application form, a fee of CZK 810 for administrative operations connected with the admissions procedure is charged. If the Faculty fails to receive payment or a receipt of payment of the admissions fee before 30th of April 2025, the applicant will be asked to pay the admissions fee within a reasonably set time limit. The applicant failes to pay the admission fee with set time limit, admission proces will be terminated.

    The invitation to the admission interview will be delivered to the applicants in electronic form through the SIS. A password to log into the electronic information system is obtained by an applicant after the applicant has submitted the application to study.

    1.Annotation of the doctoral project with the supervisor's approval. Any requirements for the structure and details of the annotation can be found on the websites of the individual study programs (if the given study program has specific requirements for the implementation of the annotation). Confirmation of funding for the costs associated with the topic being addressed and the proposed employer's consent to the study (only for the Experimental Surgery study program)
    2. Curriculum Vitae
    3. Copy of a diploma – master’s degree – MD or equivalent – A scanned copy of a diploma or a scanned certificate confirming the applicant has passed final examinations certified by university’s study department or a scanned proof of an ongoing study at university)
    4. Up-to-date review of the applicant’s publication record – A list of published and unpublished work of the applicant (or expert’s opinion on this work) and other documents worthy of consideration (e.g. proof of completed vocational courses)
    5. Proof of payment
    6. Auxiliary files only for the Experimental Surgery study program:
    Each project must be supported by the statement of the ethics committee. The document will be attached in written form.


    The attachment 3 has to be sent also in a certified hard copy form by post or delivered personally to the Second Faculty of Medicine no later than 30 September 2025. Except CUNI graduates.
