      Entrance examination: two rounds

      Content and subject matter of entrance examination:

      First round (max. 30 points): Assessment of proposal for dissertation

      Assessment criteria:

      • clearly formulated and highly professional, with only minor shortcomings: 23–30 points;
      • clearly formulated and highly professional, with more serious shortcomings, though acceptable: 15–22 points;
      • weak and unpersuasive, likelihood of successfully implementation of the proposal is only hypothetical: 7–14 points;
      • completely insufficient, suggesting non-existent grounding in the topic: 0–6 points.

      All applicants who acquire at least 15 points in the first part are invited to the second part.

      Second (oral) part (max. 30 points)

      1. Discussion of submitted proposal for PhD dissertation: 0–15 points
      2. Assessment of the applicant’s previous academic activities: 0–5 points
      3. Assessment of the applicant’s knowledge of secondary literature: 0–10 points

      Other requirements for the entrance examination:

      Applicants must have knowledge of Russian at minimum B2 level (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for languages), i.e., applicants should be proficient enough to allow them to read academic literature and follow linguistic and literary lectures and discussions. The entrance examination is held in Russian. The points assessment of all parts of the examination also includes assessment of the applicant’s knowledge of spoken Russian. Study at the partner university also assumes knowledge of English at minimum B2 level. One part of the oral entrance examination of the applicant’s choice, shall therefore be conducted in English.

      Recommended topics for the dissertation proposal:

      • Higher levels of the language system of Germanic and Slavonic languages (functional morphology, syntax, textual syntax, textual linguistics, stylistics, lexicology, pragmatics) from a theoretical or applied perspective
      • Historical development of Germanic and Slavonic languages
      • Literary theory
      • Literary history, with a focus on Germanic and Slavonic areas
      • Cultural history, with a focus on Germanic and Slavonic areas
      • Comparative studies

      Приемный экзамен: два тура

      Содержание, предмет приемного экзамена:

      Первая часть: Оценка проекта диссертационной работы (макс. 30 баллов)

      Критерии оценки:

      • Доступно и ясно сформулированный и отвечающий критериям специальности проект, имеющий незначительные недостатки: 23-30 баллов
      • Доступно и ясно сформулированный и отвечающий критериям специальности проект, имеющий некоторые недостатки, но в приемлемой форме: 15-22 баллов
      • Слабый и неубедительный проект, шансы на успешное завершение проекта лишь гипотетические: 7-14- баллов
      • Неудовлетворительный проект, без какой-либо ориентации в проблематике: 0-6 баллов

      На устную часть экзамена приглашены все соискатели, набравшие не менее 15 баллов в первой части.

      Вторая (устная) часть (макс. 30 баллов)

      1. Дискуссия по специальности по предложенному проекту диссертационной работы: 0-15 баллов
      2. Оценка достигнутого профессионального уровня и уровня образования соискателя: 0-5 баллов
      3. Знание литературы по специальности: 0-10 баллов

      Требования к экзамену:

      Программа, аккредитованная на русском языке

      Необходимо владение русским языком на уровне В2 (Общеевропейские компетенции владения иностранным языком), то есть соискатель должен знать русский язык настолько, чтобы он мог читать научную литературу по специальности и посещать лингвистические и литературоведческие лекции и участвовать в дискуссиях. Приемные экзамены проводятся на русском языке. Составной частью оценки всех частей приемного экзамена является оценивание устного ответа соискателя. Для обучения в университете-партнере также требуется владение английским языком на на уровне не ниже B2, поэтому одна из частей устного экзамена будет проводиться на английском языке по выбору соискателя.

      Рекомендуемые темы проектов диссертационных работ:

      • Высшие уровни языковой системы германских и славянских языков (функциональная морфология, синтаксис, синтаксис текста, лингвистика текста, стилистика, лексикология, прагматика) с теоретической или практической точки зрения
      • Историческое развитие германских и славянских языков
      • Теория литературы
      • История литературы с ориентацией на германские и славянские области
      • История культуры с ориентацией на германские и славянские области
      • Компаративистика

      Graduates have theoretical and practical knowledge (in general linguistics and the philology of the language(s) of their choice) in addition to critical thinking skills. Graduates have been trained for independent scientific work in their disciplines and can be employed in professions demanding the knowledge of the respective language, general linguistics and philological procedures. Graduates can also seek positions in demanding areas of applied linguistics such as interpreting of technical lectures or technical translation of linguistic publications, in higher education and academic institutions, in journals specializing in literature, arts and art history, in cultural institutions, in public administration settings including cultural policy management, in diplomacy and other settings.
