The main aim of the two-year MA program is education in all basic areas of theoretical and empirical economics, which will provide graduates with high-quality preparation for joining an already running PhD program in Economics, or for direct application in practice as economic analysts and consultants. The program focuses on key areas of economic theory and econometrics, along the lines of top European Master in Economic Research programs offered at the London School of Economics, the University of Cambridge or Tilburg University. The general knowledge output of the graduate will be knowledge of advanced mathematical methods and both passive and active use of English.
Description of Verification and Evaluation Criteria:
The entrance examination is single-round and conducted in English.
Applicants are evaluated based on the required attachments to the application (see below). The maximum number of points in the first round is 40.
The following are evaluated:
Previous academic results of the applicant (20 points) – overall performance in previous studies
Motivation for studying and economic research (20 points) – the applicant demonstrated motivation to study at CERGE and familiarity with the research focus of the institute
The evaluation considers whether the applicant's professional interests and academic results align with the research focus of the institute.
Recommended Attachments:
Recommendations – two letters of recommendation, preferably academic references, assessing mathematical and economic skills, and proficiency in academic English
GRE Test
Evaluation of recommended attachments in the admission process:
· Recommendation – evaluated within the motivation for study, a maximum of 5 points can be obtained.
· GRE test – evaluated within the applicant's previous academic results, a maximum of 5 points can be obtained.
Details for Recommendation Letters:
Email contacts and names for potential references should be sent to mer@cerge-ei.cz. The referee will then receive a link where they can fill in the reference upon opening the provided link.
Applicants with the highest scores will be admitted. The point threshold for admission is determined by the dean, considering the number of applicants taking the entrance examination and the faculty's capacity.
Required Application Attachments:
