This bachelor study program Playing Instrument for Teacher Education is intended for graduates of music-oriented artistic basic schools and the conservatory graduates, who want to deepen their vocational education and focus their musical professional prowess in the arts and education as well as in the social field.The study program has two profiling – the piano playing and the string instruments playing. The study program is oriented at progress of communication and organization abilities and motivates students for cooperation. At second it enables individual professional growing as well as individual character. Everything is founded on music theory, music history studies and motivate methodic and pedagogical subjects. The project of this study program is defined for persons who have already achieved high level in branch of perform instrument interpretation and who want to use their relationship to music in professional future.

The study program focuses on acquiring knowledge and skills that enable qualified insight into the field and thus preparation for the follow-up Master's degree program, for special-interest music education work with children and youth, and for assistant music education activity at school.

Přijímací zkouška má dvě části:

1. Zkouška z 1. studijního programu, plán maior, max. 40 b.

2. Zkouška z 2. studijního programu, plán minor, max. 40 b.

Celkem max. 80 b.

Hra na nástroj se zaměřením na vzdělávání

Přijímací zkouška je talentová.

V přijímací zkoušce lze získat max. 40 bodů.

Předmětem talentové zkoušky programu Hra na nástroj se zaměřením na vzdělávání je zjištění technické a interpretační úrovně ve hře na nástroj (uchazeč vybere jednu z možností - klavír, smyčcové nástroje).

Zúčastní se jí pouze ti uchazeči, kteří získali v talentové zkoušce programu Hudební výchova se zaměřením na vzdělávání maximálního počtu 10 bodů v kritériu 3. (Hra na nástroj).  

UCHAZEČ PŘILOŽÍ K ELEKTRONICKÉ PŘIHLÁŠCE NASKENOVANÉ SDĚLENÍ, ZDA SE HLÁSÍ KE STUDIU HRY NA KLAVÍR NEBO NA SMYČCOVÉ NÁSTROJE (NAPŘ HOUSLE,  VIOLONCELLO).

1. Klavír
1.1 Vlastní talentová zkouška (max. 30 bodů)

2 koncertní etudy
1 skladba polyfonní (např. J. S. Bach: Temperovaný klavír)
1 věta z klasické sonáty nebo variace
1 skladba romantická
1 skladba autorů 20. století
Hra zpaměti je podmínkou

1.2 Motivační pohovor (max. 10 bodů)

2. Smyčcové nástroje

2.1 Vlastní talentová zkouška (max. 30 bodů)

Tříoktávové stupnice jednoduché, akordy, dvojhmaty.

(Rozsah stupnic přizpůsobený danému smyčcovému nástroji.)

2 etudy s různou technickou a výrazovou problematikou.

J. S. Bach: 1–2 části ze Sonát a partit nebo Suit.

1 věta z klasického nebo romantického koncertu.

1 přednesová skladba dle vlastního výběru z období klasicismu, romantismu nebo 20. století (odlišné slohové období a charakter, než má vybraná část koncertu).

2.2 Motivační pohovor (max. 10 bodů)

Repertoár bude přizpůsoben danému smyčcovému nástroji po konzultaci s vedením nástrojového oddělení např. v rámci konzultace či Dne otevřených dveří.

Uchazeč je povinen zajistit si klavírní doprovod.

Hra zpaměti je podmínkou.

Hudební výchova se zaměřením na vzdělávání

Přijímací zkouška je talentová. 
Uchazeč může získat v talentové přijímací zkoušce max. 40 bodů. Předmětem talentové zkoušky je prověrka celkové hudebnosti, zjištění úrovně pěveckých dovedností a stupně technické vyspělosti ve hře na klavír nebo na housle,
Uchazeč může prokázat hru i na další klasické hudební nástroje použitelné ve školní hudební výchově a může v rámci talentové zkoušky, část Hra na nástroj, získat bonifikaci 1 bodu za každý nástroj. (Celkový součet bodů za Hru na nástroj však nesmí překročit 10 bodů.) Nástroj je nutné mít s sebou a připravit si repertoár, nestačí předložení dokladů (např. vysvědčení ze ZUŠ). 

1. Zpěv (max. 10 bodů, minimálně nutné získat 4 body) 
2 kontrastní lidové písně a capella 
Podmínkou je správná výslovnost a zdravý hlas, schopný vývoje. 

2. Hudebnost (max. 20 bodů, minimálně nutné získat 7 bodů) 
Pěvecká transpozice lidové písně od jiného tónu nebo v jiné tónině 
Improvizovaný zpěv paralelního druhého hlasu k lidové písni 
Reprodukce předehraného tónu (i mimo zpěvní polohu hlasu), analýza harmonicky hraných dvojzvuků, trojzvuků a čtyřzvuků 
Pěvecká reprodukce rytmicko-melodických modelů 
Reprodukce rytmických modelů hrou na tělo 
Vokální kreativita - doplňování předehraných předvětí do period 
Rytmizace a melodizace říkadel 

3. Hra na nástroj (max. 10 bodů, minimálně nutné získat 4 body) 

3.1 Klavír 
2 etudy, např. C. Czerny, op. 261, 849, 299 
1 polyfonní skladba, např. J. S. Bach: Malá preludia a fughetty, Dvojhlasé invence, Temperovaný klavír 
1 věta z klasické sonáty nebo sonatina 
1 skladba z období romantismu na úrovni Mendelssohnových Písní beze slov, Schumannových Dětských scén, Schubertových Moments musicaux apod. 
Harmonizace lidové písně dle vlastního výběru a její transpozice do jiné tóniny.
Hra zpaměti není podmínkou. 

3.2 Housle 
Stupnice a akordy v rozsahu 3 oktáv 
2 etudy J. F. Mazase nebo R. Kreutzera 
1 přednesová skladba na úrovni Dvořákových Romantických kusů, sonatin P. Ebena apod.
Hra lidové písně a její transpozice do jiné tóniny.

Hra lidové písně na klavír s akordickým doprovodem.
Hra zpaměti není podmínkou.

Pokud uchazeč v jedné z částí zkoušky nezíská minimální počet bodů, hodnotí se celá talentová zkouška jako neúspěšná = 0 bodů.

Admission to Bachelor's studies is conditioned by completed secondary education confirmed by a school-leaving certificate.

Special conditions ensuing from Lex Ukraine in the field of education (pursuant to Section 8 of Act No. 67/2022 Coll.) which only pertain to applicants with a special visa / temporary protection.

During the admission procedure, the candidate needs to prove that s/he is entitled to a temporary protection in connection with the armed conflict in Ukraine (s/he can submit a leave to remain visa marked D/VS/U or a temporary protection visa marked D/DO/xxx)

Applicants need to comply with the standard requirements stipulated by the Faculty of Education (https://is.cuni.cz/studium/eng/prijimacky/index.php?do=info_fakulta&fak=11410) except for the following:

1) The candidate does not have to demonstrate his or her knowledge of the Czech language at level B1 and higher.

2) Documents proving previous education - if previous education cannot be properly documented, it can be evidenced by a statutory declaration.

3) Applicants are exempt from the fee charged for administering the admission procedure, in accordance with Rector‘s regulation No. 16/2022.

Verification description and evaluation criteria:

This entrance exam for a type of study that combines the major and minor subject consists of two parts:

1. Exam for the 1st study programme (major), maximum score of 40 points

2. Exam for the 2nd study programme (minor), maximum score of 40 points

Total maximum score of 80 points

Music education

The entrance exam is conducted as a talent assessment performance. 
The applicant may earn a maximum of 40 points. The performance is meant to demonstrate the applicant’s overall musicality, his or her singing proficiency and technical prowess in piano or violin playing.
The applicants may also demonstrate their prowess by playing other classical instruments that can be used for standard music education. The applicant can get 1 extra point for every instrument s/he is able to play, with the maximum score that can be awarded within this section (Playing a musical instrument) amounting to 10 points. The applicant needs to bring the instrument along, prepare a repertoire and be ready to perform, as it is not deemed sufficient just to provide a certificate from a music school. 

1. Singing (maximum score of 10 points, with 4 points being the passing threshold) 
2 folk songs that feature contrasting figures, performed a Capella 
The basic prerequisite is good articulation and a healthy voice that can be further cultivated. 

2. Musicality (maximum score of 20 points, with 7 points as the passing threshold) 
Transposing the vocal of a folk song to a different pitch or a to a different key 
Providing improvised vocal harmony to somebody singing a folk song
Reproducing a tone played on a musical instrument by the examiner (which may even be out of the standard vocal range of the applicant), analysing two-note, three note and four-note harmonies
Vocally reproducing rhythmic and melodic models
Reproducing rhythmic models using one’s own body as a percussion instrument 
Vocal creativity – inserting a pre-recorded first foreshadowing line to fit a short composition
Composing rhythm and melody to accompany a given rhyme 

3. Playing a musical instrument (maximum score of 10 points, with 4 points being the passing threshold) 

3.1 Piano 
2 etudes, eg. C. Czerny, opus 261, 849, 299 
1 polyphonic composition, eg. J. S. Bach: Little Preludes and Fughettas, Two-part Inventions, The Well-Tempered Clavier
1 coherent section from a classic sonata or sonatina
1 composition from the Romanticist period approaching the level of Mendelssohn’s Songs without Words, Schumann’s Childhood Scenes, Schubert’s Moments musicaux etc. 
Harmonising a folk song of the applicant’s own choice and transposing it to a different key.
It is not necessary for the applicant to have memorized the compositions prior to the exam. 

3.2 Violin
Scales and chords ranging across 3 octaves 
2 etudes by J. F. Mazas or R. Kreutzer
1 performance of a composition approaching the level of Dvořák’s Romantic pieces, sonatinos by P. Eben etc.
Playing a folk song and transposing it to a different key.

Playing a folk song on the piano with chord support.
It is not necessary for the applicant to have memorized the compositions prior to the exam.

If the applicant scores lower than the passing threshold in any part of the exam, the entire talent-assessment exam is classified as unsatisfactory = 0 points.

Playing Instrument

The entrance exam is conducted as a talent assessment performance.

The applicant can earn a maximum of 40 points.

The talent-assessment exam for the programme titled Playing Instrument for Teacher Education seeks to assess the technical and interpretation level of the applicant when it comes to playing a musical instrument of their own choice (either piano or strings).

This exam is only taken by those applicants who earned the maximum score of 10 points in the talent-assessment exam for the programme titled Music Education for Teacher Education, according to the 3rd criterion (Playing Instrument).  

THE ELECTRONIC APPLICATION NEEDS TO FEATURE AN ATTACHED SCAN OF THE APPLICANT’S STATEMENT AS TO WHETHER S/HE IS APPLYING TO STUDY PIANO OR STRINGED INSTRUMENTS (FOR INSTANCE THE VIOLIN OR VIOLONCELLO).

1. Piano
1.1 The talent assessment performance itself (maximum score of 30 points)

2 concerto etudes
1 polyphonic composition (eg. J. S. Bach: The Well-Tempered Clavier)
1 coherent section from a classic sonata or variation
1 Romanticist composition
1 Twentieth century composition
It is necessary for the applicant to have memorized the compositions prior to the exam.

1.2 Motivational interview (maximum score of 10 points)

2. Strings

2.1 The talent assessment performance itself (maximum score of 30 points)

Basic three-octave scales, chords, double stops.

(The range of the scales will take into accounts the specific features and limitations of the particular string instrument.)

2 etudes which differ in terms of their technical aspects and expressiveness.

J. S. Bach: one or two parts from his Sonatas and Partitas or Suites.

1 coherent section from a Classicist or Romanticist concert piece.

1 performance of a composition of the applicant’s own choice, dating from the period of Classicism, Romanticism or the 20th century (its periodicity should differ from that of the concert piece that the applicant has already performed).

2.2 Motivational interview (maximum score of 10 points)

The repertoire must be commensurate with the string instrument in question; this can be consulted with the head of the musical instrument section at the Music Education Department, either during their office hours or during Doors Open Days.

The applicant needs to arrive with a piano accompanist.

It is necessary for the applicant to have memorized the compositions prior to the exam.

Verification method: entrance exam

The graduate is equipped with extensive skills and knowledge in the field of instrumental interpretation, music theory and history. He is able to realize a graduation concert, in essence to evaluate interpretative performances and formulate theses of instrumental methodology with relevant conclusions based on completed theoretical, practical and didactic disciplines. The graduate of the bachelor program Playing Instrument for Teacher Education is competent for lector, assistent, free time pedagogue or tutor at the leisure activities of children, youth and adults in the sphere of music education, orhe can find employment in professions whose foundation is the knowledge and skills of the professional foundation of the qualification subject. The priority of the graduate of this study will be the subsequent master study of teaching.

The graduate defines on the basis of acquired knowledge of music theory, music history and didactics of music education, explains the music and music education terminology system and puts the concepts in mutual context. He / she masters musical activities necessary for demonstration and verification of knowledge: on selected musical instrument he demonstrates theoretical phenomena, plays folk and popular songs with stylized accompaniment, plays compositions of various styles. It has a sufficient vocal culture: it has a vocal cultivation, sings songs and artificial songs at the appropriate level of interpretation. On the basis of knowledge and skills, he conceives music education activities in extracurricular music education, in music education he explains and confirms music phenomena, corrects partial music education knowledge and activities.
