The doctoral study programme in Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology allows each student to pursue research in a topic of their choice from among issues in modern ethnology and cultural anthropology. Its organic and synergic combination of approaches from ethnology (i.e. history-related disciplines) and cultural anthropology (i.e. social sciences), which relies to a substantial degree on theoretical reflection of the object of study and rests methodologically on quality field research, makes the programme unique among programmes at Charles University and other higher education institutions in the Czech Republic.
