In the subject Physiology of stress, students are introduced to the reactions of the human organism to stress and adaptation processes occurring in the body in connection with training load. The basics of physiology are presented training process, problems of energy metabolism under load, application of neuroendocrine regulation and homeostatic regulatory mechanisms in physical activity, the importance of thermoregulation and excretion at physical activity, metabolism of various tissues during physical exercise and the issue of digestion and nutrition in relation to physical exercise. Students are also introduced to the exogenous and endogenous influences that are involved in reaction and adaptation physical load and specifics of reactions and adaptations during human ontogenesis. The course is focused on theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of stress diagnostics and expands competencies for the implementation of movement programs at specific population groups.

The aim of the subject is to familiarize with the reactions of the human organism to stress and with the adaptation processes taking place in
organism in connection with the training load.

Knowledge:

The student acquires knowledge of the biological basis of physical fitness, adaptation to movement load and genetic conditioning of adaptation, is introduced to the manifestations of adaptation at the cellular level, the principles of energy metabolism and the metabolic characteristics of load according to the intensity of metabolism and duration and the influence of the histochemical composition of skeletal muscle on the energetics of muscle work. The student acquires knowledge about homeostatic, transport and regulatory mechanisms during movement load, about applications of physiological principles in training, about physiological aspects of loading in ontogeny and in specific population groups, about internal and external factors influencing the performance of an individual, about the health significance of physical activity and is introduced to principles of basic examinations in exercise physiology.

Skills:

The student will be able to define the basic principles of the physiology of body load and adaptation, apply knowledge of the physiology of body load and adaptation to training, use diagnostic procedures of the physiology of body load and evaluate the results achieved as prerequisites for fitness and sports performance, specify the differences in physiological reactions and adaptations in individual groups of the population, independently carry out and evaluate simple functional tests

Competence:

The student is competent to use the acquired knowledge of the physiology of body load and adaptations for their application and connection with subsequent subjects such as sports training and sports specialization, to use the acquired information in everyday practice and to apply knowledge of the physiology of body load and adaptations in training, to use diagnostic procedures of body physiology loads and evaluate the results achieved as prerequisites for fitness and sports performance, specify differences in physiological reactions and adaptations in individual population groups, independently perform and evaluate simple functional tests
