The seminar focuses on human-animal communication, giving an overview of the recent knowledge about the cognition and interspecies communication of different mammal and bird species, with a special emphasis on grey parrots. The students are introduced to the key theories of experimental approaches to this issue, additionally, they are provided with the opportunity to take part in a research.

Podmínkou je zapsat si současně oba tyto předměty. Požadavky na vstup do kurzu budou detailně probrány na úvodní hodině, které se prosím proto VŠICHNI zúčastněte. Active participance of all students on the seminary will be required, which will include developing and improving research projects of the Laboratory of the interspecies communication, and learning the newest findings about interspecies communication from international journals. On the seminary, you will encounter following topics: 1) Theoretical fundamentals of the experimental work. 2) Projects of the Laboratory of interspecies communication. 3) Methods of teaching parrots the spoken language. 4) Communication with parrots. Research of Dr. I. Pepperberg. 5) Learning to work with research publications, understanding research papers. 6) Cognitive abilities of parrots. 7) Communication and cognitive abilities of other intelligent animals (e.g. dolphins, chimpanzees, dogs, cats).
