Course profile: This course aims to familiarise students with various translation techniques applied to selected samples of Anglo-American documentary or near-documentary prose, journalese, short fiction, poetry and drama. The winter term course puts strong emphasis on translations from English into Czech. Credit requirements: 80% attendance and a digital portfolio of translations done during the seminars.

Profil kurzu: Tento kurz si klade za cíl obeznámit studenty s běžně používanými překladatelskými metodami a nejčastějšími úskalími při překladu z rodného i cizího jazyka. Tyto metody jsou pak aplikovány na vybrané úryvky z angloamerické prózy i poezie, ukázky novinářské angličtiny. Převážná část seminárních materiálů se v tomto kurzu překládá z angličtiny do češtiny. Požadavky k zápočtu: Docházka (max. 2 absence) a digitální portfolio všech překladů vyhotovených během semestru.
