The aim of the course is to acquaint students with canonical works of English Romanticism and the Victorian Novel, and to develop the ability to analyze and interpret texts and to argue about them persuasively in relation to more general aesthetic and cultural issues.

Cílem kurzu je seznámení s kánonickými díly britského romantismu a viktoriánského románu a rozvíjení schopností texty analyzovat a interpretovat. Volba textů vychází jednak z jejich reprezentativnosti pro dané období, ale současně zohledňuje diversitu témat a přístupů.
