The subject is aimed on an overview of multiple access methods utilized in LANs (Local Area Networks), technologies, which are based on communication channel sharing, and techniques of switching, which support current LAN technologies (gigabit Ethernet, virtual LANs). The subject covers wireless networks (IEEE 802.11, Bluetooth, HiPerLAN, IEEE 802.16), and ad-hoc and sensor networks. Practices are oriented on real-world applications, management and configuration of LANs.
