Topics: Electronic structure of the atom. Chemical bonding. Molecular orbitals of diatomic and polyatomic molecules. Molecular shape and molecular symmetry - point groups of symmetry. Bonding in metals, ionic, covalent and molecular crystals. Geometry of crystal lattices, space groups of symmetry. Basic structural types. Conductivity, magnetic properties. Solubility. Fundamental types of reactions - precipitation, acid-base, redox and radical reactions.
Systematic chemistry of elements. Main group elements - hydrogen, oxygen, VIII. - VI. main groups.

- Electronic structure of atoms, Schrodinger equation solution – basic conclusions, atomic orbitals, electron configuration. 

- Periodic table of elements.

- Chemical bonding. MOLCAO.  Molecular orbitals of diatomic and polyatomic molecules. Hybridisation, VSEPR.

- Molecular shape and molecular symmetry - point groups of symmetry. 

Conductivity, magnetic properties

Band theory of solids.

Conductors, semi-conductors, insulators. Superconductivity. Magnetic properties.

Crystals

- Geometry of crystal lattice, crystallographic systems, Bravais lattices, space groups of symmetry.

- Structures of metallic, ionic, covalent and molecular crystals.

- Basic structural types.

Solutions and Reactions

- Solubility.

- Fundamental types of reactions - precipitation, acid-base, redox and radical reactions.
