The subject is concieved as theoretical and practical, describes the system of nursing care in the Czech republic (process, diagnosis, interventions), the patient needs and holistic approaches to health care. Part of the seminar is also training practical nursing skills on models.

Aim of the course
Learning goals of the subject:
Students acquire the theoretical knowledge necessary to perform basic and specialized nursing procedures.
Students are able to perform nursing procedures correctly.
Students are able to maintain clean approach during nursing procedures.
Students are able to maintain aseptic approach during nursing procedures.
Students learn the principles of an individualized holistic approach to patients during simulated situations.

Requirements to the exam
Seminar Requirements
The course is completed with a credit.
To receive credit, students must attend all seminars and successfully complete all partial tests throughout the semester.
Before each seminar, students are required to complete the theoretical preparation at home, and a test on the given topic will be taken at the beginning of the seminar in the Moodle course “Basics of Patient Care“.

1. The prevention and control of infection. Desinfection, asepsis, antisepsis, handwashing, masking, gowning, barrier technigue. (Zámečníková 3)
Attendance at the first lecture is optional but strongly encouraged, as it covers a fundamental topic: hand hygiene.

1. Assisting patients with hygiene. Dying patient care. 2. Measuring vital signs 3. Administering medications (oral, topical). Oxygen therapy 4. Administering medication by injection (subcutaneous, intramuscular or intradermal). 5. Collection of biological material, blood sample collection 6. Peripheral IV catheter. Infusion therapy.
