The course is aimed to prepare students directly for the doctor-patient communication which they will perform in the hospital. The course topics follow the internal propedeutics structure in terms of taking patient´s personal data, taking a patient´s medical history (familiar, past, working, pharmacological, allergological and social past histories), speaking about present problems, giving instructions during medical examination and using ethical approach while giving good or bad news. The course focuses especially on listening skills (in the form of doctor-patient dialogues) and speaking (obtaining required information). The core of the course is a professional vocabulary acquisition aimed at general medicine. Conditions of the course – no prerequisites required. Czech language III builds on the skills of the subjects: Czech language I and Czech language II. Outcomes of the course: 1. Students will gain the ability to lead doctor-patient dialogues in terms of making correct questions, understanding patients and reacting equally to their answers. 2. Students will gain the ability to communicate in common daily situations on the A2 level according to the Common European Framework of References for Languages.
Requirements to the exam

ATTENDANCE:

There are 14 lessons a term and only 3 absences are allowed. The only excuse is a long-term illness, which must be confirmed by a doctor. In case of any absence a student is responsible for covering all the materials that were taught during the lesson he/she missed, which means that the student has to ask his/her classmates and copy from them all the handouts distributed in the lesson. The student can not expect that the teacher will give him/her any materials later. The teacher offers consultation hours for those students who attend classes, or for those who apologise for missing a class.

EARNING CREDIT:

1) PROJECT (doctor - patient dialogue)

2) TWO WRITTEN TESTS - in the given days (during the classes); each test will be evaluated by 100 points

Besides that, there will be an oral testing at the beginning of each class where students can get some points as well and one project. At the end of the term students need to gether 150 points in total not to sit for a written credit test. If they do not gain the required points, they have to pass a written credit test. The points gained in the oral testing will be added to the score of the credit test.

3) CONVERSATION in exam period - medical terminology 1st year + 2nd study (winter)

RULES FOR THE CREDIT TEST IN WINTER PERIOD

Each student has to sign up for (or cancel) any written test by the SIS. There are 3 chances for each test but only in the given terms, which means that if you come at the last date and you don't pass, there aren't any other chances for you! The dates for the winter credit will be offered during the winter exam period. For those who don't obtain winter credit by the end of the winter exam period there will be only one extra date in June for everything.
