The current study will focus on the child production of past tense forms in communication with parents. Video recordings of 3-year-old children in interaction with their parents, obtained from the Childes database, will be used as the source material for the study. The goal of this study is to describe the strategies parents use to elicit past tense forms from their children and to describe gestures related both to the parents' elicitation and the children's production. The theoretical part of this thesis will introduce the development of past tense forms in L1 acquisition and the importance of gestures in language acquisition. It will also describe the importance of parental communication with children. The second part of the thesis will offer detailed descriptions of the recordings with children, focusing especially on the way they use and are challenged to use past tense forms.
Práce bude vypracována v anglickém jazyce.
