| This diploma thesis examines the development of the civil rights movement in the US with a special emphasis on the Black Lives Matter movement. Additionally, it emphasizes the femi-nist component of activist groups and investigates the common mistreatment of women re-garding this particular social issue. I use specific cases to demonstrate how women are fre-quently disregarded when instances of police brutality and fundamental human rights are discussed. I will attempt to illustrate the complexity of this problematics through socio-cul-tural analysis and close reading, and explain the significance of comprehending it in order to end racism and police violence. |
