Zásady pro vypracování

Lyrická báseň Méghadútam beze sporu představuje jedno ze stěžejních děl sanskrtské kávjové literatury a vždy se těšila značné obliby jak v kruzích indických kávjových znalců, tak mezi západními badateli. Od svého vzniku byla opatřena četnými komentáři, z nichž lze jako nejvlivnější uvést komentář Mallináthův a Vallabhadévův. Práce si vytyčuje dva cíle. Za prvé představit základy teorie alankárašáster s omezením na rané poetiky Dandina a Bhámahy a aplikovat jejich zásady na vybrané strofy z Méghadúty. Za druhé analyzovat, jak se k problematice alankár v Méghadútě staví komentátor Mallinátha a taktéž zasadit jeho postoj do kontextu interpretace Kálidásova díla západními a indickými literárními vědci. Zatímco Mallinátha spatřuje u Kálidásy značné množství komplexity v ohledu na užívání básnických trop, obzvláště tedy dvojsmyslů či šléš, raná indologie měla tendenci nahlížet Kálidásu jako básníka, jenž se vyznačuje relativní jednoduchostí ve srovnání s pozdějšími sanskrtskými autory. Práce chce odhalit, nakolik samotný původní text poskytuje opodstatnění pro Mállináthův výklad, a také ilustrovat některé z ikonických, ale i sporných příkladů alankár v Méghadútě.
