Zásady pro vypracování

Cílem diplomové práce, která je deskriptivně-teoretickou studií, je popsat roli tlumočníků při prvních kontaktech dobyvatelů s původními obyvateli Severní Ameriky a při dobývání a kolonizaci tohoto území. Práce navazuje na předchozí výzkumy věnované španělským dobyvatelům v Latinské Americe a soustředí se především na Britskou Ameriku; zkoumá podobnostmi a rozdíly při dobývání Severní Ameriky Španěly a Brity. Z historického hlediska práce popisuje, jaké evropské mocnosti se angažovaly při kolonizaci Severní Ameriky, v jakém časovém období a na jaké geografické oblasti se soustředily. Z teorie tlumočení je pozornost věnována dějinám tlumočení, roli tlumočníka, jednotlivým typům tlumočení i neprofesionálnímu tlumočení, v neposlední řadě i neutralitě tlumočníka.
