Předběžná náplň práce

Práce se zabývá vlivem surovin na chování státu s konkrétním zaměřením na propojení turecké expanzivní politiky ve Středozemním moři v oblasti exkluzivní ekonomické zóny Kypru a existencí zemního plynu. V obsahu této práce se deskriptivně popisují případy, kdy Turecko narušovalo suverenitu Kypru a porušovalo Úmluvu o mořském právu, hlavním aspektem této práce je zjistit pomocí kvalitativního způsobu zkoumání jakou roli v tomto chování hraje zemní plyn a zdali můžeme potvrdit či vyvrátit kauzální vztah mezi těmito proměnnými. Dalším aspektem této práce je přinést deskriptivní popis historického kontextu na Kypru. Dále přinést čtenáři seznámení s Úmluvou o mořském právu a jaký význam má tato kodifikovaná mezinárodní dohoda v kontextu Turecka. V poslední řadě deskriptivně popsat vývoj hledání zemního plynu ve Středozemním moři.

Předběžná náplň práce v anglickém jazyce

This thesis is focused on description of a link between behaviour of a country and natural resources, with main focus on Turkish expansionist policy in the Mediterranean Sea and the existence of natural gas in the region of exclusive economic zone of Cyprus. Content of this work consist of evaluations of instances when Turkey affected the sovereignty of Cyprus and violated the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. Main focus of this thesis is to find out if this Turkish behaviour can be linked to the existence of natural gas in the area and if we can approve or disprove this link between these variables. Furthermore, thesis gives information to the reader about historical context of Cyprus, functionality of United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and its relationship with the foreign policy of Turkey and lastly, to give information about the evolution of search for natural gas in the Mediterranean Sea. This all combined to give comprehensive information about link between behaviour of state and natural resources with focus on this particular case, in order to add new knowledge and “case study” to the international relations and geopolitics.
