The aim of this thesis is the model air flows in the mesosphere. This phenomenon can be described by several models, one of then is a set of Navier-Stokes equations for compressible fluids involving gravitational forces [1]. These equations have to be solved numerically, a suitable technique is the discontinuous Galerkin method [2]. The goal of the work is to study the model, propose a numerical discretization and perform numerical experiments using available software and compare the results with the reference ones.
