Trichromatické vidění je barevné vidění realizované třemi typy čípků. Většina savců má dichromatické vidění, trichromatické vidění se objevuje u primátů Starého světa (včetně člověka) a částečně i u primátů Nového světa.

Trichromacy is the condition that involves three independent channels for processing color information, which is based on three different cone types. Most mammals have dichromatic vision, trichromacy appears in primates of the Old World (including human) and partly in the New Wold primates. This thesis will focus on the mechanisms of trichromatic vision and its evolution in primates with a comparison between the primates of the Old and New World. The color preference of primates will be discussed but the predominant interest will be given to neuronal mechanisms underlying both trichromatic and dichromatic vision.
