The aim of the dissertation is to build upon the nationwide, anthropological research which was conducted on children and adolescents in the Czech Republic over a 20 year period and to demonstrate that the early detection of the irregular development of certain physical features may help predict the occurrence of a number of diseases. This is likewise evident in dentistry, where a knowledge of the ordering and timing of deciduous and permanent teeth is important for the planning of preventive measures, as well as for diagnosis and treatment. Because this matter has not been given sufficient attention in the Czech Republic (and indeed within Central Europe, generally), the aim of our research has been to determine the ordering and timing of permanent teeth in Czech children aged 4-15 and to compare the results with the conclusions of similar studies elsewhere. Attention was also paid to important factors, both internal and external, that significantly affect the emergence time of permanent teeth. |
