This thesis describes the activities of the Discalced Augustinians in Bohemia as the commissioners of works of art. The first part explores the history of the Order and its monasteries in the period context. It specifically describes relations with the laymen and other clergy and the related donors who funded most of the works commissioned by the Discalced Augustinians. The second part is focused on the constructional development of the related monastery premises, their architects and the extant design drawings. It also provides an overview of the artists hired by the Order, including members of the Order who themselves created works of art. The paper concludes with a chapter on the series of paintings which can be seen as a means of expressing a certain type of representation of the Order.
