Předběžná náplň práce

Emberové, etnikum původních obyvatel Panamy a Kolumbie, přicházejí za poslední dekády do stále užšího kontaktu s civilizací. Tento proces sebou přináší dilemata, jak se postavit k naléhavým globalizačním výzvám. Emberská kultura již prošla určitou diskontinuitou v tradici a jejich autenticita a identita je dnes v procesu neustálého vývoje a hledání. Smyslem této práce je popsat některá důležitá současná dilemata Emberů a pokusit se je nahlédnout z emické perspektivy aktérů samotných. Emberové si kladou řadu otázek: zda přijmout standardy západní civilizace a užívat si vymožeností modernity nebo se uzavřít před okolním světem do rezervace, žít komunitním způsobem a zakonzervovat své tradiční hodnoty? Avšak jaké jsou vlastně tyto hodnoty? Existuje snad nějaká alternativní cesta, jak spolupracovat s globalizovaným světem, a přitom neztratit svou kulturu? Tato práce se zaměřuje na dvě základní oblasti tohoto komplexního problému: „rozvoj a prosperita“, „autenticita a identita“, přičemž se opírá o autorovi vlastní hypotézy a žité zkušenosti nabyté během jeho dlouhodobých pobytů mezi Embery a zároveň čerpá z odborné literatury, případně porovnává oba tyto zdroje

Emberá, an indigenous group inhabiting Panama and Colombia territory, have come into ever closer contact with civilization over the last decades. This process brings new dilemmas about how to face the increasingly urgent challenges of globalisation. Emberá culture has already undergone a certain discontinuity in tradition during this process, and their authenticity and identity are a matter of continuous evolution and finding. The purpose of this paperwork is to describe some of the important contemporary dilemmas of the Emberá and to try to view them from the emic perspective of the actors themselves. The Emberá ask themselves a number of questions: „Should we adopt modern standards, become part of the globalised world and have a profit from all its conveniences? Or should we protect ourselves from the outside world, living hidden in some reservation and preserve our traditional values? However, what our traditional values are? Is there an alternative way to cooperate with the globalised world without losing our culture and traditions?" This paperwork is focused on two main topics of this complex problem: Development and Prosperity", "Authenticity and Identity" based on the author's own hypotheses and lived experience gained during his long-term stays among the Embera people, while drawing on the literature or comparing these two sources.
