| Let P be a bounded below acyclic complex of projective modules over a commutative ring A.
Then is it contractible? The answer is yes if the ring A is assumed to be noetherian, and is also yes if P is a complex of finitely generated projective modules. The student will write down a full proof of these statements, and will study generalizations of this problem. |
