| String field theory is a fundamental formulation of string theory with lots of unearthed potential. While our understanding of open string field theory has significantly advanced in recent years, the closed string field theory is far less developed. The goal of this thesis is to develop suitable tools, systematically search and analyze classical solutions in either string field theory by variety of analytic and numerical means, and explore the ramifications for physics of string theory backgrounds. |
