Hlavními úkoly studenta bude provádění simulací, zpracování výsledků, další vývoj modelů a implementace nových algoritmů a simulačních protokolů. |

This PhD project entails coarse-grained simulations of pH-responsive (weak) polyelectrolytes and short oligopeptides. The simulations predict the ionization degree and the total charge on the molecules at various pH, and their interaction with polyelectrolytes. Analogous systems are investigated experimentally within the Soft Matter group. The main job of the student will be to perform the simulations, analyze the data, refine the models and implement new simulation algorithms or new simulation protocols. Optionally, the job may also include a limited amout of experimental work in order to gain practical experience with experimental methods used for characterization of the simulated systems. Further extensions of these project include simulations of swelling and partitioning of small solutes in polyelectrolyte hydrogels or reversibly crosslinked gels formed by polymers containing boronic acid. |
