Předběžná náplň práce

Práce se zabývá problematikou irské hranice v kontextu brexitu. Brexit je jedním z nejdiskutovanějších témat současné doby. Kořeny otázky hranice mezi Irskou republikou a Severním Irskem sahají do 20. let 20. století a ohniskem této problematiky je 2. polovina 20. století. V úvodu se práce zabývá procesem brexitu a vyjednávání kolem odchodu Spojeného království z Evropské Unie. Proces vyjednávání se zastavil na otázce, jak bude vypadat hranice mezi Severním Irskem a Irskou republikou po tom, co Severní Irsko nebude součástí Evropské unie. Hlavním cílem práce je ukázat na historickém diskurzu, z jakého důvodu je tato hranice tak důležitá. Hranice byla symbolem severoirského konfliktu a tato práce popisuje, jak severoirský konflikt začal, co bylo jeho hlavním důvodem, jeho průběh a jak byl tento konflikt vyřešen. V závěru práce sleduje, jak zatím Brexit ovlivnit mírový proces v Severním Irsku.

Předběžná náplň práce v anglickém jazyce

This thesis deals with the issue of the Irish border in the context of Brexit. Brexit is one of the most discussed topics nowdays. The issue with the border between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland dates back to 1920s, and the center of this problem can be found in the second half of the 20th century. This work deals with the Brexit process and the negotiations going around the United Kingdom’s departure from the European Union. The negotiation process has stalled on the question of how the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland should look like after Northern Ireland would not be part of the European Union. The main goal of this thesis is to show on the historical discourse, why is this border so important. The border was a symbolof the Northern Ireland conflict and this paper describes how the Northern Ireland conflict began, how the conflict developed and how it ended. The end of the thesis focuses on how Brefit (so far) menaged toinfluence the peace process in Northern Ireland.
